As coach of São Paulo, Muricy won the third Brazilian championship, between 2006 and 2008, to put his name once and for all among the most important coaches in the club’s history. But this will not be the only “tri” that I complete with Tricolor.

Muricy was a player for São Paulo for most of the 1970s. Between 1973 and 1979, the then skilled midfielder helped his team win the 1975 Paulista Championship and the 1977 Brasileirão.

Then, after many years, the former player would join the São Paulo technical committee. Between 1994 and 1997, he was an assistant to Telê Santana and then he performed, while the legendary commander had to leave the pitch for health reasons. In this period, he managed to make a kind of “B Team” of the club, affectionately nicknamed Expressinho, to win the Conmebol Cup title in 1994.

Then, in 2006, Muricy returned to Tricolor, this time to lead the club’s main team, and won three Brazilian Championships in a row (2006, 07 and 08). The idol still had time to return again, in 2013, but without repeating the same success as before, he said goodbye two years later.

Now, he returns to the role of soccer coordinator, invited by the president-elect Julio Casares, and completes a rare group in Morumbi: player, coach and coach.

In the new role, Muricy will be responsible for closing the gap between players, coaching staff and management. In addition, special attention will also be paid to the integration of the base categories with the main team.

Muricy Ramalho is already one of the main names in the history of São Paulo, but now he will have the opportunity to move further in the history of one of the most important clubs in Brazilian football.
