Vice President Hamilton Mourão (PRTB) received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday (29). When recording the moment on a social network, he stated: “I did my part as a conscientious citizen”.

In the post, Mourão said he hoped that “soon, as many vaccines as possible will reach the population.”

Other members of the government have already been immunized in the federal capital. Last Saturday (27), Minister Paulo Guedes also received the first dose. On March 18, the Minister of Institutional Security of the Presidency of the Republic (GSI), General Augusto Heleno, was attended to.

At 67, Mourão is part of the priority group of the campaign. This is the fourth day of vaccination for this age group in the Federal District.

Mourão tested positive for Covid-19 late last year. The diagnosis occurred on December 27. At that time, he served in isolation at the Jaburu Palace, the official residence.

In recent weeks, the vice president questioned some preventive measures against Covid-19, such as the curfew, for him, this type of restriction goes “beyond the margin of freedom of maneuver” and the legislation that “better supports” this type of rule.

Despite being critical of the restriction measures, Mourão defended earlier this month that vaccination “is the only way out” to overcome the pandemic (look down).

In the midst of negotiations for the purchase of vaccines, President Jair Bolsonaro has already criticized the immunization of recoveries. On December 17, Bolsonaro said that he would not be vaccinated because he had also contracted the virus (look down).

“I won’t take it, some say I’m setting a bad example. The idiot, the idiot who is setting the bad example … I already had the virus, ”Bolsonaro said at the time.

After the approval of the emergency use of the vaccine, Bolsonaro said that the doses would be distributed, however, he reinforced that “it has to be voluntary.” For the president, “there is still nothing scientifically proven with this vaccine.”

In recent weeks, the president has emphasized the federal government’s efforts to purchase immunizers. On March 10, he signed the law that facilitates the purchase of vaccines against Covid-19.

However, at the time, he criticized the measures of social isolation and defended the use of “immediate treatments”, such as the use of drugs without efficacy proven by science against the new coronavirus.
