Sergio Moro, former Minister of Justice and Public Security, demonstrated tonight on his Twitter profile to mourn the more than 10,000 deaths from covid-19, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, confirmed this afternoon by the Ministry of Health. There were 730 deaths in the past 24 hours, an average of one confirmed death every 2 minutes.

“My solidarity and my prayers to the families of the more than 10,000 victims of the covid-19,” the former federal judge tweeted.

Moro also called for people to take precautions and avoid the spread of the virus. “Do your part and be careful not to get or spread the disease.

The demonstration contrasts with the position of President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party), who did not comment on the number of deaths. He used Twitter to cite measures to combat the pandemic.

Bolsonaro also appeared riding a jet ski on a day when he had prepared a barbecue, amid the increase in deaths related to the new coronavirus.
