Two hundred five people are waiting for a place in an ICU bed for Covid-19 in Rio’s municipal, state and federal networks. Another 401 people are queuing waiting for a place in the infirmary.

“I come to make an appeal for my father-in-law Josemir Alves Lourenço, 57, admitted since December 3 at the Salgado Filho Hospital with Covid. You need a CTI. We presented a preliminary court order so that Sisreg could seek this position, ”says Josemir’s son-in-law, Cláudio Araújo.

At the Ronaldo Gazolla Hospital, a benchmark in the treatment of Covid-19, the images show one of the rooms without a bed available, while another is unusable. The reason is a roof leak.

Look at the negligence. Leak, leak. Due to the leak, four beds are no longer used. A patient who needs four rooms that can be used, ”says a man without identifying himself.

Even with the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases and the increase in the number of hospitalizations, there is information that nursing beds were closed in Rio.

To RJ1, the Secretary of State Health, Carlos Alberto Chaves, said that during the weekend 53 nursing beds were closed in Riocentro. According to him, the information is from the Regulatory System (Sisreg).

The city, however, through Rio Saúde, denies the closure and says that the Hospital do Campanha do Riocentro continues to operate with 300 active beds and that, in the coming days, 20 ICU beds and 170 nursing beds will be opened.

The secretary also reported that this morning the state managed 141 beds for the treatment of Covid, 24 beds are for nursing and the rest for CTI. The beds, according to him, are in the Zilda Arns Hospital, in Volta Redonda, in the São José do Avaí Hospital, in Itaperuna, and, in the capital, in the Anchieta State Hospital, in the Carlos Chagas Hospital and in Hemorio.

Chaves also said that the state expects 16 more beds this Tuesday (15) at the Pedro Ernesto Hospital.

Union demands more effective measures

On Sunday (13), the Union of Doctors published an open letter calling for better working conditions and measures to contain the pandemic.

“Health professionals, doctors are exhausted. While we attend, attend and attend, it seems that we are clearing the ice because in reality distance measures are not taken, social isolation by governments, right? So we are already exhausted and every day the number of people in the queue waiting for one of these places increases ”, says Alexandre Telles.

The attractiveness of family members of patients and doctors does not seem to raise awareness at all. The “Fica Comigo” party gathered hundreds of people on Sunday in Jóquei Clube da Gávea, in the South Zone.

On the page of the social network, a notice said that the event would respect all sanitary regulations. But the use of the mask and social detachment were ignored.

The same thing happened at a party in São Cristóvão, in the North Zone. Not even the waiters and security guards who worked there wore protection.

On Saturday (12), the crowd was in Baixada Fluminense. About two thousand people gathered at the concert of the singer Orochi in Queimados Futebol Clube.

But the flagrant ones are not only in shows and events. This is also a reality in bars, such as Praia da Bica, on the Ilha do Governador, where many people circulated without a mask and almost without distance.

Anyone who watches the disease progress never tires of making an appeal.

“Don’t go out on the street, you don’t get crowded. If you have to go out, it’s in an emergency. (….) Take care ”, reinforces Cláudio Araújo.

Regarding the patient Josemir, the city reported that his case is in the State Regulation System and that he is receiving all the support and treatment at the hospital.

Regarding the leak at Ronaldo Gazolla, the city said the infirmary is under maintenance and will be released as soon as the repair is complete.

According to the city, the patients who were in the infirmary were transferred to other beds and are still being treated.
