The Ministry of Health wrote on its Twitter account on Wednesday (18) that there are no drugs or other substances that prevent or cure Covid-19. The ministry added that the “biggest action” against the virus is social isolation and the adoption of individual protection measures. About an hour later, he deleted the message.

The ministry’s publication was a response to a user who commented on another text in the folder, which spoke of the importance of the population looking for a health unit after identifying symptoms of the disease.

“Hello! It is important to remember that, so far, there are no vaccines, specific foods, substances or remedies that prevent or can end Covid-19. Our greatest action against the virus is social isolation and adherence to individual protection ”Said the ministry’s publication.

Asked, the Ministry of Health had not responded, until the last update of this report, why the text was removed.

The publication contradicted the methods proposed by President Jair Bolsonaro to combat the pandemic.

As soon as the first cases of Covid-19 began to be registered in the country, Bolsonaro spoke out against the measures of social isolation, adopted by state and municipal governments based on the guidelines of international health authorities.

The president also defends, throughout the pandemic, the use of drugs that, according to him, cure the disease. There is no scientific proof of the efficacy of the remedies. One of these drugs promoted by Bolsonaro is hydroxychloroquine, but studies in several countries have not confirmed any positive effects of the drug.
