The referral of the case to Lewandowski was determined this Monday by the vice president of the STF, Rosa Weber, who is in charge of judicial duty during the recess. Lewandowski is already a rapporteur on other topics related to the pandemic and, therefore, was appointed as the person in charge of the analysis.

The investigation request was sent to the Supreme Court on Saturday (23) by the Attorney General, Augusto Aras, based on a representation of the Citizenship party and information presented by Minister Pazuello himself, in addition to the prior investigation of the PGR itself.

After the PGR’s request to the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Health reported that it would wait for the official notification to be issued.

In the document sent to the Supreme Court of Justice last week, the PGR affirms that the Ministry of Health received information about a possible collapse of the health system in the capital Amazonas in December, but only sent representatives to the state in January of this year. .

The PGR also points to signs of a delay in the effective delivery of hospital oxygen to the cities of Amazonas: the lack of information caused the death of dozens of patients with Covid-19 this month.

On January 14, therefore, eight days after Eduardo Pazuello learned of the imminent collapse of the health system in Manaus, the ministry delivered 120,000 units of hydroxychloroquine, as a medicine to treat Covid-19, almost the same amount of PCR-type tests that had been performed. delivered to the state of Amazonas.

Aras states that “the distribution of chloroquine began in March 2020, including guidelines for the early treatment of the disease, but without indicating which technical documents served as the basis for the guidance.” Chloroquine has no proven efficacy.
