On the 11th, the BH Municipal Health Secretary, Jackson Machado, affirmed that the city has all the logistics for the COVID-19 vaccination. “If the vaccine arrives today, tomorrow we will be able to vaccinate,” he told the State of Minas.
The secretary indicated that the negotiations of the mayor’s office with the Butantan Institute and the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Bio-Manguinhos / Fiocruz) aim to guarantee a plan B and C for the capital of Minas Gerais, in case that the Ministry of Health does not provide the vaccine. Bio-Manguinhos has a partnership for the production of the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine.
The city also partnered with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) to stock the Pfizer vaccine, which has been applied in the UK. If it reaches the capital, it can be stored in the institution’s super freezers. That is because the immunizer must be kept at a temperature of -70 ° C.
