President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) today extracted a bladder stone in a surgery that lasted an hour and a half and was performed at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo. The procedure, an endoscopic cystolithotripsy, is considered simple and should not require a long recovery time.
The tendency is for the government official to rest for the weekend and return to work in Brasilia on Monday (28).
According to the bulletin released by Bolsonaro’s notice, the operation was carried out “without complications” and the calculation was “totally eliminated.” The president is in a stable state and without fever or pain.
The president lived with the stone in his bladder for at least five years and, according to him, the surgical indication was made so that it would not cause injuries to the urinary tract.
The Prime Minister of the Government Secretariat, General Luiz Eduardo Ramos, took to social networks to wish the president a speedy recovery. “Thank goodness the surgery of our leader, Jair Messias Bolsonaro was successful!” He wrote.

The Honorable President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, underwent endoscopic surgery for Cystolithotripsia to remove the bladder stone. The procedure was performed without complications, lasting 1h30 and the stone was completely eliminated.
Currently, the patient is clinically stable, afebrile, and pain-free.

Six surgeries in two years
It is the fifth time in two years that the president has undergone surgery to avoid health complications, the previous four were caused by the stabbing suffered during the 2018 electoral campaign in Juiz de Fora (MG). Additionally, Bolsonaro underwent a vasectomy in January.
The first of the four was held in the Santa Casa de Juiz de Fora, on September 6, 2018. Then, it was transferred to the Hospital Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, where he underwent surgery on September 12, due to a complication caused by the adherence of the intestinal walls. At the same hospital, on January 28, 2019, the colostomy bag was removed.
The last surgery was done a year ago to remove a hernia.
‘Bigger than a bean’
Bolsonaro revealed that he will undergo surgery to remove the bladder stone in a conversation with supporters at the entrance to the Palácio da Alvorada on September 1. At the time, he said the stone was “bigger than a bean” and that he had had the problem since at least 2015.
“This calculation here is an estimate. I have it for more than five years, it is in the bladder. It is bigger than a bean. I decided to remove it because it must be there, injuring the bladder internally,” he said. On the eve of this declaration, the president had been treated by the Planalto Palace medical service.
