Inter massacres São Paulo in Morumbi and takes the leadership of Brasileirão

São Paulo’s dizzying fall in the Brazilian Championship was humiliated on Wednesday. The team lost the lead after being mercilessly defeated in the middle of Morumbi by 5 to 1 by Internacional. The gaucho team reached 59 points by winning for the seventh time in a row. The São Paulo club, with four games without a win, has 57. And the situation for Fernando Diniz can get complicated.

The overwhelming defeat is the consequence of the imposition of a practical and confident team on another emotionally destroyed, tactically lost, disorganized, apathetic and that seems to have “trembled” with the possibility of being champion. Fernando Diniz shows that he does not know what to do. And on the pitch, even more experienced players, like Daniel Alves, haven’t produced anything useful for some time.

This Wednesday, Internacional made it clear at first that São Paulo would not intimidate them. Rather, he would try to exploit the fact that the opponent is under pressure. And moved on. In four minutes he had chances with Yuri Alberto and Cuesta, and four minutes later he opened the scoring. The goal came after an incredible failure by the São-Paulina defense on a free kick. Moisés got up in the area and Cuesta, free, headed the net.

The disadvantage revealed the emotional lack of control of some Paulistas, such as Reinaldo, and the apathy of the majority, even experienced people like Daniel Alves. Fernando Diniz’s team only tried to shoot from afar. He did not articulate plays.

With the midfield populated by five players, good movement and vertical play, Internacional took charge of the duel. And he reached the second goal at 23, in a ball that came from goalkeeper Lomba, in another failure of the tricolor defense. Yuri Alberto played for Caio diagonally, Leo and Reinaldo wavered and the midfielder played when Volpi left.

With the 2-0, São Paulo started trying to play. Internacional remained superior, creating good chances – several times the player from the Rio Grande do Sul team was caught at the moment of the shot. But the hosts also arrived, although rarely – the stage would end with 11 conclusions from Inter and 5 from São Paulo – to the opposite area.

After 38 minutes, the play returned São Paulo to the game. Cuesta conceded a silly corner, on the rebound Reinaldo deflected at the near post and Luciano, back in the team recovered from injury, headed to reduce.

The goal did not hide the poor performance of the team in the first stage, a fact recognized by Luciano. “Everything we said before starting the game, we did the opposite. We were cornered, I don’t know what happened. I think the vibe is more to get the team back in the game, ”he said.

In the second half, São Paulo even tried to enter the game. Diniz played with the team, using something he had done before. He took out a defender, Léo, retired Luan to defense, put on Vito Bueno and repositioned Tchê Tchê and Daniel Alves. He also put Igor Gomes in place of Gabriel Sara.

São Paulo began to play with the necessary disposition. He began to attack Inter, who began to score further back, even to avoid attrition, and created opportunities with Reinaldo, Tchê Tchê and Vitor Bueno.

However, a new error in the exit of the ball cooled the spirits of the tricolor team. Vitor Bueno disarmed and in the sequence Yuri Alberto entered Volpi’s face and made it 3-1, in the 14th minute.

Then São Paulo collapsed technically and emotionally. Yuri scored twice more, at 20 and 22, and since then Inter have started saving for Sunday’s classic with Grêmio. São Paulo once again demonstrated why five days ago they were 7 points ahead and now they were 2 behind Inter.
