The interim Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, said on Tuesday (8) that the country will begin vaccinating the population against the new coronavirus in January.

At a ministerial meeting, the minister said that the first doses should arrive at the beginning of next year and that the plan is to immunize “everyone.”

“We are making contracts with those who manufacture the vaccine and the forecast is that this vaccine will reach us in January. In January of next year we will begin to vaccinate everyone,” he said.

The folder foresees that, initially, 100.4 million doses of the vaccine will reach the country, produced in partnership with Fiocruz. The estimate is that the second dose will be available in the second half of next year.

Last week, the executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Elcio Franco, said, however, that the vaccine should not be for the entire population. “Within the epidemiology data, there is no forecast to vaccinate 100% of the population. This is not normal, but in risk groups ”, he said.

Pazuello made the statement when asked by blogger Esther Castilho, a 10-year-old girl who was invited by President Jair Bolsonaro to attend the ministerial meeting.

At the request of Bolsonaro, he asked the attendees present a series of questions, many of them formulated by the president himself and repeated by the girl.

The blogger questioned the Minister of Education, Milton Ribeiro, for example, when face-to-face classes will resume in the country.

“Classes should return soon, as soon as there is more security. And that depends on each state government,” replied the minister.

While laughing at the president, he also asked Vice President Hamilton Mourão if he wanted to become president of the country one day. “Under no circumstances,” said the reserve general.

Jokingly, Defense Minister Fernando Azevedo replied, when asked if the country is protected from external threats, that he intends to do compulsory military service for women.

The girl has a program on YouTube and has interviewed the president at least four times. Last year, she was invited by Bolsonaro to his inauguration ceremony.

At the beginning of the interview, shared by the president on his social networks, Bolsonaro said that he would like the country’s reporters to be like the girl.

Throughout his term, the president stood out for adopting an aggressive stance with the press, especially when asked about irregularities or controversies in his government.
