The detection of Covid-19 in Ceará should be expanded with the arrival of 300 thousand rapid tests for the disease. The units from China arrived in the capital during the afternoon of last Sunday (26) and will begin to distribute from today (27). The tests will be sent to the municipalities of Ceará according to the population and the number of cases in each one.
The Secretary of State Health, Carlos Roberto Martins, Dr. Cabeto, upon receiving the arrival of the cargo, at the Fortaleza International Airport, explained that the distribution will be based on statistical calculations. Initially, 40% of the tests will be sent to the Interior of Ceará, and the other 60% will be used in the units in Fortaleza, where the highest number of cases of the disease are observed, since the beginning of the confirmations.
“First we are going to centralize hospitals, health professionals and for suspicious cases. We will make available in Emergency Care Units (UPA) for those who have more than five days of symptoms. We are discussing whether (they will) in some publications They will stay in all the municipalities and, eventually, in basic units, so that we can track the entire population, “explains the secretary.
The main advantage of the tests is for symptomatic patients, as evaluated by the infectious disease specialist Anastácio Queiroz, professor at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). He notes that early treatment is ideal for Covid-19, and new tests will allow faster decisions to be made in treating patients. “They also allow us to know what the disease is like in various parts of the state. We need to know the diagnosis of people to take a course of action. The vast majority are positive,” reflects the infectologist.
The new tests are part of a 90-ton load that also includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to guarantee the protection of health professionals in Ceará. The inputs, according to Dr. Cabeto, were planned to meet a three-month demand, including aid to the municipalities.
“This is never planned in the short term. We have enormous purchasing difficulties, given that almost no state in Brazil has managed to carry this burden with this dimension,” he says.
Ceará should also receive new respirators also purchased in China. A negotiation with the state medical health company foresees the delivery of 200 equipment by the 30th of this month, at the Beijing airport. The arrival of respirators in Fortaleza depends on “the time of Chinese customs clearance,” according to the secretary, and is scheduled for May 4 or 5.
New acquisition
Carlos Roberto Martins also points out that Ceará should close an agreement with a Korean company on Monday (27) to acquire another 120 thousand rapid tests for Covid-19. These must be available through “drive thru” and for active search, and Sesa will continue to study and map how to use it. “The population will mainly make appointments through the application of the Ministry of Health. It is very important that the population download this application, not only to have information and to be able to use the chat, but that the scheduling of these exams will take place there, so we don’t do it. chipboard, “he says.
The active search must be carried out using the Sesa intelligence system, to identify the communities where the oldest people live. “This is now the purpose of the State of Ceará: it is the early diagnosis, the early risk stratification, so that we can anticipate and people can have the possibility of receiving treatment before they become more serious,” says the head of Sesa.
The 120,000 tests to be purchased use the RT-CPR technique, which allows for faster responses. “This type of test is done in real time. The result comes out the same day, quickly. When you do a molecular biology test, you prefer this one. Today, the trend is to do this again, rather than having to wait five or seven days. It is very positive to help speed up the clinical decision, “explains Anastácio Queiroz.
In the midst of the daily increase in cases, which already reach 6,260, and the deaths (there are 376 registered) from the disease in Ceará, Dr. Cabeto stressed the importance of social isolation, which, according to him, was fundamental for the service of health does not run out even at the beginning of the crisis.
Since Easter, according to him, the respect for isolation has decreased by 10%. He emphasizes that the population must understand the social role. “This caused the capacity of the hospitals to increase a lot. Ceará has already expanded 480 new ICU beds in 30 days, and this is only done because it had previous planning, because we were prepared. But everything has a limit,” he warns.
Ceará records 50 deaths in 24 hours
The number of deaths caused by Covid-19 in Ceará reached 376. There were 50 more confirmed deaths compared to Saturday (25), resulting in a 15.34% increase, the highest in a single day.
The amount was confirmed by the State Health Department (Sesa), through the IntegraSUS platform, in an update made at 6:17 p.m. on Sunday (26). The number of confirmed cases increased by 593 on the day, causing Ceará to exceed the mark of 6,000 infected people: there are now 6,260 records of the disease in 134 municipalities. 50 cities left without confirmation.
With 4,991 cases, the capital remains at the top of the list of municipalities in Ceará with the highest contagion. Fortaleza already registers 295 deaths caused by Sars-CoV-2. Maracanaú, with 12, and Caucaia, with 10, are the two cities with the highest number of deaths from Covid-19, in addition to the Capital.
The state fatality rate of the disease increased to 6%. 17,179 patients with suspected coronavirus infection are still being investigated, and a total of 21,241 tests were performed to identify Covid-19.
The age group with the highest number of deaths is 80 years or older, for both sexes. Also according to the IntegraSUS bulletin, 109 patients died in this age range.
The head of Sesa, Carlos Roberto Martins, commented on the possible peak of the disease in Ceará while receiving the arrival of supplies from China. He explains that the period is not fixed and, as social isolation continues to be met, the peak will be postponed and reduced.
“We are going to analyze in the next few days whether this increase in cases is occurring throughout Brazil, because a stage is coming in which the number of contaminated people increases a lot.” It is dynamic. Scientists from the Municipal Health Department are making statistical models to have the most up-to-date data, ”he says.
