In 40 days, SP will have 46 million doses of CoronaVac, says Doria | Politics

The first batch consisting of 120 thousand doses of CoronaVac arrived this morning at the Cumbica International Airport, in Guarulhos (Grande SP).

The covid-19 vaccine developed by the Chinese laboratory Sinovac in partnership with the Butantan Institute is at the center of a political dispute between Doria and President Jair Bolsonaro (no party).

Doria also announced that the time interval for the reclassification of the State’s regions in the São Paulo Plan will increase from 30 days to 14 days, as in the previous phases of the pandemic. The decision comes due to the increase in cases of contamination by coronavirus and the rate of hospitalization in hospitals.

Currently, a good part of the State (76% of the population) is in the green phase of the plan, with permission to open cinemas, theaters and museums, for example.

Doria said the government has been transparent about the pandemic. “Health commands the fight against the pandemic in São Paulo. Decisions are based on science and health, ”he said, adding that no other factor, such as the political scene, interferes in this decision.

The Secretary of Health of the State of São Paulo, Jean Gorinchteyn, affirmed that, given the increase in cases of contamination by the coronavirus, a decree was signed today that determines that hospitals do not demobilize the beds delivered to patients by covid-19 . The decree also requires that elective surgeries not be scheduled.

The secretary affirmed that the government values ​​the recent increase in cases, but that the State remains far from the scenario seen at the peak of the pandemic, with hospitalization rates for covid-19 higher than 80%. Until yesterday, Greater São Paulo had a rate of 49% and the State, 43%.

The executive secretary of the São Paulo State Coronavirus Contingency Center, João Gabbardo, affirmed that there is no risk of lack of beds for the care of patients with covid-19.

He highlighted the measures taken today by decree that prohibits the transformation of covid beds to other diseases and suspends the new programming of elective procedures.

According to Gabbardo, with current data on cases and hospitalizations, no region of the state would be reclassified. Today 76% of the population is in regions classified in the green phase, the second least restrictive.

The executive secretary said that the data points to a “small increase in the pandemic in the state, but that it is difficult to assess the figures at this time due to the lack of data updates last week due to problems in the accounting system of the federal government.

Patricia Ellen, secretary of State Development, said that the worsening of the indicators together with the instability of the federal government data were the two reasons that led the state government to postpone the reclassification of the São Paulo Plan to November 30. On the 16th, eight regions would be reclassified into the green phase, taking 90% of the population to that phase, but the measure was suspended.
