The governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, announced this Saturday (2/27) that he will publish a new decree reviewing restrictions in some sectors of the economy. After establishing rules similar to those that were in force at the beginning of the pandemic and determining the interruption of non-essential services from 00:01 on Sunday (2/28), the head of the local Executive said at a press conference that it will allow sectors such as automotive and civil construction. The rules should have a duration of 15 days and the new decree should be published in an additional edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation.

“This blockade is not like last year. Our experience last year was very small with respect to the pandemic. Today we already have a horizon, ”said the governor. After meeting with the team of secretaries, he explained that there are several peculiarities within each sector and, in the face of services with low impact on health, he will review the measures planned so far.

“According to what happened last year, they had no major impact on health. This is the case of civil construction, the automotive sector, banks and lotteries that provide services to the population, as well as accountants and law firms. So, in these areas, we will make an exception within the new decree ”, he informed.

To establish what these activities would be, Ibaneis stated that he took into account the need they have for the population and the fact that they do not generate agglomeration. “They are sectors that affect the economy, but not crowds in general, because the main objective of the restriction decree is to reduce crowds,” added the governor.

In principle, the restrictions will be valid for 15 days. So, we will make a statement as was done last year, but in a shorter period, because today we have a much greater capacity within the Ministry (Health) and the Institute for Strategic Health Management (Iges) that we can reactivate all the beds . So we have a much greater mobilization capacity within the health area and also in social mobilization, distribution of more masks and alcohol gel ”.
