The Sanitary Surveillance reports on its official website that, in October, 574 bars and restaurants were inspected in the Federal District. “What we have seen are bars and restaurants that follow all protocols during the day, but at night they do not know the rules, they do not maintain the necessary distance between tables, they do not advise customers on the use of a mask, they reserve a space such as dancing and, in this way, end up fostering crowds and ignoring the rules ”, explains the deputy director of the DF Sanitary Surveillance, André Godoy.
All establishments that have been authorized to open must follow the measures recommended in Decree No. 40,939, of July 2, 2020. Among the main rules are: operation with 50% of the capacity authorized in the regulatory permit; minimum distance of two meters between tables; use of a mask by employees and customers; availability of 70% alcohol in gel and measurement of the temperature of all consumers.
Inspection actions by the Sanitary Surveillance take place during the week, including Saturdays and Sundays. Approximately 20% of inspections are carried out after receiving complaints made to the Ombudsman’s Office, by telephone 160, or by the GDF Ombudsman’s Office, for 162. Each notification of infringement gives rise to a process, with the right of defense of the owners. When the infringement is maintained, the fine can vary from R $ 2,000 to R $ 1,5 million, with the possibility of banning the establishment.
