In the midst of despair after the fire that hit the Federal Hospital of Bonsucesso in the north of Rio on Tuesday morning (27), employees took patients on stretchers and beds to a machine shop, which is located in the street behind the medical unit. Among the patients who were brought to the workshop was the student’s uncle, Ketlyn Oliveira, 26. He said it was desperate until he managed to transfer his uncle, who has cancer.
“He has cancer and was thrown from hospital to hospital and finally managed to stop here. But now there was this fire, we were desperate. There was a rush with the patients, but fortunately they managed to take him to the Salgado Filho Hospital.

Early in the evening, firefighters recommended removing all patients from the hospital as a precaution. In total, the HFB has 289 patients, 143 have already left the unit and the forecast is that 146, including babies, will be transferred to different health units. The operation should last until the early hours.
After the fire, the HFB fire department transferred 162 patients from Building 1, where the fire occurred, to Building 2, and 76 were subsequently transferred to other hospitals.
