The Government of Paraná announced the implementation of a curfew, probably between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., this week, to try to stop the rapid expansion of the coronavirus in the state, attributed, in large part, to the overcrowding of young people in bars and evening events. .

In a press release, the government said that “two new legal instruments will be announced to help curb the high spread of the virus in recent days.” One of the measures involves a curfew, that is, the prohibition of the movement of people at night. There are still doubts about the schedule of the restriction: if it is between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. or between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The other measure will be the recommendation to resume remote work activities of state employees, similar to the resolution previously published by the Department of Health.

The regulation must be published before Wednesday (2). Beto Preto, Paraná’s Health Secretary, had warned of the possibility of a curfew on Tuesday morning. “We want to reduce the flow of people, so that they stay at home. It is difficult, but we want to make a broad strategy without reaching commercial activity ”, he stressed. The secretary stressed the importance of the population taking care of the holidays. “We have 500 cases of active coronavirus outbreaks in Paraná. Family outbreaks, outbreaks in companies. In other words, the virus is in community transmission. Public awareness is necessary, ”he warned.
