Five days after the report in the magazine Piauí that details the case of the comedian Marcius Melhem, accused of sexual and moral harassment by the station’s employees, Rede Globo spoke out this Tuesday (8), in the Jornal Nacional.
During the news, the presenters André Trigueiro and Ana Luiza Guimarães said that:
“Globo reported that it carefully investigates all reports of harassment and does not tolerate abusive behavior. But that he cannot comment publicly on any investigation of this type because he assumed with all his collaborators a commitment to the secrecy of the process, which protects the investigation of the facts, complainants, accused and witnesses.
The station was being criticized for failing to report on the case. But this Friday, “as proof of transparency,” Globo pointed out in the Jornal Nacional and on its website links to reports from other vehicles that deal with the subject, as well as the profile of comedian Dani Calabresa on social networks.
In October last year, Dani Calabresa accused Marcius Melhem, former director of Globo’s humor department, of harassment. In an extensive article, the magazine Piauí revealed details of all the episodes of harassment suffered by the comedian last Friday (4).
The report said it heard from 43 people, two of whom were victims of sexual harassment, seven of whom were victims of moral harassment and three were victims of both types of harassment by Marcius Melhem.
