The 7th Family Court of the state of Paraná ordered the arrest of Giba, former captain of the Brazilian men’s volleyball team, due to a lawsuit for the execution of the payment of alimony, filed by the former wife Cristina Pirv.
Giba has two sons: Nicoll, 16, and Patric, 12. Since 2017, the Olympic champion has been trying to reduce the value of his salary, justifying a substantial loss of his earnings after retiring from the courts.
Despite the position of the Public Ministry in favor of Giba, the judge also ordered the payment of the total amount owed since March 2018, which totals R $ 300 thousand.
In an interview with globoesporte.com, the former volleyball player said that the amounts he receives as ambassador of the International Volleyball Federation, in addition to other sources of income, are insufficient to meet the payment of about R $ 15 thousand (amount adjusted by inflation over the years, originally the value was R $ 10,000).
“I’m tired of being quiet. I have been receiving a beating for seven years, in which she (Cristina Pirv) seeks out the press and unmasks the children revealing values of lawsuits that must be kept secret. It is unacceptable to do this with our children. If I was a bad parent, as she says, do you think children would call me every day, send a message? Giba asked.
Giba’s defense claims that Cristina Pirv can share the children’s monthly expenses. In addition, he mentions that the process leaves the former Olympic champion in a situation of financial insolvency for damaging his image.
“In 2018, I was terminated from a three-year advertising contract due to the negative repercussions of the case. In fact, through an embargo, Cristina obtained the total amount of the termination of this contract, more than R $ 60 thousand ”, says Giba.
Currently Cristina Pirv, who was also a volleyball player, lives with her children in Romania, her native country. Giba, who lives in Rio at the home of his current in-laws, says he has not seen his children in about a year and that he refuses to accept the image of a “monster” that the ex-wife tries to instill in him.
“What I really want is the right to see my children… I haven’t seen them in 11 months. I can not stand it. Let this be resolved as soon as possible so that they have peace of mind and when they are adults they no longer need to see these fights. Deep down, they have nothing to do with it. I appreciate the good and safety of my children. I pay more than half of what they need to live comfortably. I do not accept that they paint me as this monster that she (Cristina Pirv) tries to create ”, concluded the former volleyball player.
