Valdo Luís Marques da Conceição, 53, works as a street sweeper and went viral on social media this Saturday (3). He attracted attention when he appeared dancing with the broom, to the sound of ‘Flor de Lis’, by Djavan, performed by a street artist.
Quickly, the video began to pump on social media and WhatsApp groups as well. The newspaper Extra spoke with Valdo Luiz, who commented on the repercussions on his dance moves: “This was so modest that I was scared when I found out there was a video of me running the networks. Last Friday it was close to lunchtime ”.
“I was already preparing for the service break, when I passed by Rua São José, close to Avenida Rio Branco, and found the area very dirty. I decided to give it a general cleaning before going to lunch. And since there was a street artist playing a song, I danced a bit with my broom and didn’t even realize someone was filming me, “he added.
Later, Valdo revealed that he was called by his boss to speak and stressed the importance of having his work recognized.
“It didn’t even occur to me that my boss had asked me to speak for my little dance. I changed my clothes and had my coffee. And I was scared to talk to him and he said, “Boy, do you know that you’re having the most success on the internet? There is a video of you dancing in the center of Rio. But the important thing is that you were wearing protective equipment and doing your job ”. I felt a mixture of relief and happiness. It is very good to be recognized for our work, ”he said.
Still in the interview, he says he received more than 30 calls for the video: “I love to dance, I also like to sing a samba-enredo and play my tambourine in some samba circles. But it’s about fun. Nothing professional. The good thing about dancing with the broom is that we don’t have to worry about stepping on our partner’s feet (laughs).
“Joking aside, what makes me happy about this whole story is that, even in such an unusual way, I am helping to give my co-workers more visibility. When we come out of invisibility and society sees us, it begins to value us. This is the coolest part of this great game, ”he concluded.
