This Friday, the second stage of the National influenza vaccination campaign (A-H1N1, A-H3N2 and Influenza B) in Santa María. Vaccination will take place from 8 a.m. at 4 p.m. (or according to stock levels) in the 25 health units of the city. This phase is aimed at the chronically ill, persons deprived of liberty, prison system employees, security and rescue forces, truck drivers / public transport drivers, and dock workers.

This Wednesday, the professionals who work in the Santa María State Penitentiary (Pesm) and in the local Army units were vaccinated. The Mobile Health Unit also applied 86 doses in guaraníes and 42 in caingangues, in indigenous towns. This Thursday and Friday, residents of two districts will be vaccinated.

Until last Monday, Santa María had already counted some 42,000 doses applied. According to data from the Municipal Health Department, 83.92% of elderly residents in the city have already been immunized, in addition to 70% of health professionals. People in these two groups will be able to receive the vaccine until the end of the national campaign, on May 22. The dose protects the population against the H1N1, H3N2 and Influenza B viruses, in addition to minimizing the impact on health services.
