Even with the release of the State for the optional resumption of Baccalaureate and Youth and Adult Education (EJA) classes as of this Wednesday (7), no city in Alto Tietê has authorized the return of face-to-face classes. The suspension of activities covers the municipal, state and private networks.
According to a survey by Condemat (Consortium for the Development of the Municipalities of Alto Tietê), of the ten cities in the region, five have already issued decrees that establish the suspension of face-to-face classes until the end of the year.
Arujá and Santa Isabel adopted the measure in September; Ferraz de Vasconcelos and Guararema last week and Itaquaquecetuba this week.
In Biritiba Mirim, Mogi das Cruzes, Salesópolis and Suzano, there are decrees in force that suspend face-to-face classes until the end of this month or early November – the only exception is Poá, whose effective term ends on the 16th. In these cities, managers chose to carry out monthly evaluations, considering the epidemiological evolution of the pandemic, in addition to the pedagogical and structural aspects of the schools and consultations with parents and municipalities.

Condemat says that he has permanently discussed, through the Council of Mayors and the Technical Chamber of Education, the multiple aspects that involve returning to school, with the exchange of information to support municipal decisions.
“Our municipalities have very different characteristics of school networks, number of students and building structure, which compromises a single decision for the entire region. For this reason, the individuality of each city has been respected, but within a consensus that, at this moment, it is not yet possible to resume face-to-face activities in Alto Tietê ”, says Professor Leandro Bassini, coordinator of the Technical Chamber of Education of the Condemat.
According to the calendar of the Government of the SP, as of today the resumption of face-to-face activities – reinforcement – is authorized for the Baccalaureate and EJA classes and, as of November 3, for Baccalaureate, provided that municipalities are held.

In addition to municipal authorization, the reopening of schools must respect the maximum limits for students and health protocols. In private and municipal networks, early childhood education and the first years of primary school can have up to 35% of students per day in classroom activities. For the last years of primary and secondary education, the maximum limit is 20%. In the state network, it is only allowed to serve up to 20% in all stages.
