Érica Fernandes, Palmeira businesswoman Ceschini had just arrived home last Saturday (30), along with Corinthians’ husband, Leonardo Souza Ceschin, after celebrating second Copa Libertadores won by his team. After a few hours, she was found dead in the apartment where she lived with her family in the exclusive neighborhood of São Domingos, in the North Zone of São Paulo, according to the Military Police.
As soon as they returned home, the 34-year-old couple said goodbye to their cousins, who left after staying in the apartment to take care of the couple’s children: twins Enzo and Lorenzo, 2, who were already sleeping in the bedroom. .
However, the festive atmosphere soon faded, with Erica found dead in a pool of blood and her husband confessing to the crime, according to police.
In the police report, to which Twitter They had exclusive access, the Military Police that answered the call reported that “Leonardo opened the door and returned to the woman, who was lying next to him.”
According to the police, the victim, who worked in the medical and hospital products business, appeared to have “injuries to his legs and back, apparently from a sharp instrument, with a knife at his side.”
The twins, until today, were unaware of their mother’s murder.
Three versions of the crime
The BO presents three versions of what happened. The first report by the prime minister who attended the incident indicates that the woman had attempted to kill her husband and then took her own life within the department.
Leonardo, who was wounded in the abdomen, initially told police that “Erica attacked him with a knife, hit him in the abdomen and committed suicide.” But soon after, the Corinthians changed the version.

The police immediately gave an arrest warrant and took him to the Mandaqui Hospital, in the North Zone of São Paulo.
According to the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security) of São Paulo, the case was registered in flagrante delicto as homicide classified by the 33rd DP (Pirituba), which is in charge of the investigations. The suspect, who works as a salesman, is in preventive detention.
He was operated on at dawn on Sunday (31), for which, according to the BO, he had not yet been questioned. The apartment went through a forensic analysis and the knife was recovered.
The reception at the Hospital do Mandaqui informed the Twitter who does not provide information on the health status of his patients over the phone, only on the spot: Leonardo remains hospitalized, under the custody of the PM.
Wanted for the report, attorney Alessandra Martins Cordeiro, who defends Leonardo, did not return contact. The text will be updated if the defense speaks.
The family says they have never witnessed a fight
René Luiz Fernandes, Erica’s uncle, told the Twitter that his family “never witnessed any fights, aggression between them, nor heard reports of fights.”
“We are all in awe of what happened and shocked, as we never would have imagined that something as serious as this could happen,” Rene said. “The two, already married for nine years, had a good relationship with both families. The feeling is one of surprise and revolt. And we want justice to be done.”
Erica was buried yesterday. Their children, twins Enzo and Lorenzo, were at the funeral, according to Rene, their great-uncle. “However, they stayed outside where the body was.”
Rene says that the children are in the care of their maternal grandmother: “Erica’s mother will seek the guidance of a child psychologist, to help in this process of telling the twins about the mother’s death.”
