A 10-year-old black girl was covered in an advertisement posted on social media from a private school in Jundiaí, in the interior of São Paulo. The case sparked outrage from the family, who filed a police report against the school. The information is from G1.
According to the file, the student’s father was at the house of some friends when the daughter saw the publication in the profile of Colégio Domus Sapiens. In the photo of the publication there were four girls, three white and one black. In art, there was the text: “It is not only important to study at school, it is also to create bonds of friendship and coexistence – Paulo Freire.”
Still according to the father, the family received messages of outrage at the publication. After the repercussions of the case, the publication was removed from the school’s social networks. The case must be investigated by the 7th Police District.
In a note to G1, the school denied that there was racism in the edition of the publication and stated that most of the publications made by the Advertising Agency contracted by the university had the text box placed on the right side of the photo.

“Contrary to the interpretation given by the users in question and the insulting accusations, on 11/20/2020, the Advertising Agency hired by the College prepared a total of 41 publications, in a package, and in practically all the publications made at that moment, the side chosen for the placement of the text box is precisely the right side of the photo, overlaying the faces of many other students, on other photos, including white students, to follow an aesthetic pattern in the advertising layout ( since the photos would be read in sequence).
That is, after analyzing the content of the advertising made on that date, there is no doubt that the concealment of the image of the student in question was not chosen on purpose by racial criteria, but by the general criterion of positioning the text box in the photos posted. sequentially on the social network.
The school, along a path dedicated to social inclusion and censorship of each and every discriminatory practice, strongly supports actions aimed at curbing racism and the dissemination of hateful and violent advertisements. this is our mission before the community and in the formation of our students ”.
