After almost five months, Espírito Santo will not have, for the first time, any municipality with a high risk of Covid-19. In the new map published by Governor Renato Casagrande, in a statement on Friday night (11), the 78 cities are divided equally into moderate and low risk.

The classification comes into effect from next Monday (14), and is a consequence of the reduction in the moving average of deaths in the last 14 days, and also of active cases (people who can transmit the disease). In this new scenario, Vila Velha joins Serra and Capital, in Gran Vitória, at the lowest level of risk. In the region, only Cariacica remains at a moderate level.

In the comparison of the last two weeks, Espírito Santo improved all the indicators. In addition to the departure from São Mateus and Ibatiba of high risk, the number of low-risk cities went from 28 to 39.

Since the risk matrix was created to classify municipalities according to Covid-19 indicators, Espírito Santo has always had high-risk cities. On the April 20 map, still in the first phase, there were six at this level, and most were low risk. Then, with the evolution of the disease, the map of the state turned almost all red on July 13, indicating the most critical phase.

SAINT MATTHEW

One of the last municipalities to leave high the risk, São Mateus celebrates the result, but the municipal secretary of Health, Henrique Luís Follador, emphasizes that the prevention and control measures of Covid-19 must remain.

“Our indicators of confirmed cases, deaths and occupancy of ICU beds decreased significantly, which allowed us to turn to moderate risk. Our perspective is that, if next week the indicators behave compared to this week, it is very likely that we will enter low risk ”, he evaluates.

Henrique Follador points out that the work has been tireless to reduce the number of critical patients and, consequently, deaths in the city. “But neither can we neglect the use of masks, hand hygiene, distance and social isolation. We need the population not to relax security measures. Returning to more peaceful levels of the scene of the disease in the municipality does not mean that it is no longer present in the territory ”, he argues.

CONCERN

In his statement, Casagrande also expressed concern that the indicators would return to a higher level of risk in the State, reflecting the behavior of part of the population during the last holidays (September 7 and 8), filling bars and beaches.

“We saw a lot of people gathered. We are concerned about the repercussion of this in a few days. Hopefully it will not have repercussions. The contagion rate is decreasing in practically all regions, and we will work to continue achieving results,” says the governor.
