A new increase in coronavirus cases and, consequently, in the occupation of beds throughout the state, caused the São Paulo government to return its 18 regions to the red phase as of this Saturday (6).
With the decision, only the services considered essential by the government will be able to operate until March 19, when there will be a new assessment of the conditions of the local health system.
According to the rules of the plan, in the red phase it is not allowed to operate shopping centers, shopping centers and stores in general, as well as non-essential services. Beauty salons and gyms suffer the same restriction.
In relation to bars and restaurants, the most restrictive band in Plano SP prohibits them from providing service for local consumption. Neither can events, conventions, cultural activities and other activities that generate crowds be held.
“The red phase allows only essential sectors to function, such as health, education, public and private security, civil construction, industry, logistics, supply, public transport, media and general services,” Governor João Doria (PSDB) said on Wednesday ) (3), at a press conference at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
The big change was in relation to schools, public and private, that can remain open in the state in the period, something that did not happen last year. “Municipal and state public schools and private schools will remain open and serve students exactly as planned,” he said.
The red phase (1) is the most restricted of the SP Plan, which divided the state into 18 regions and 5 classifications: red, orange, yellow, green and blue.
