Duarte Nogueira, of the PSDB, and Suely Vilela, of the PSB, will decide in the second round, on Sunday (29), who will be the next mayor of Ribeirão Preto (SP).
At the end of the scrutiny, at 11:34 p.m., according to data from the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Duarte Nogueira received 115,724 votes (45.3%), compared to 52,266 for Suely Vilela, which represents 20.72% of total.

The Ribeirão Preto election had 32.44% abstention, 5.36% white votes and 10.12% null votes.

Duarte Nogueira was born in Ribeirão Preto, he is 56 years old, he is divorced and he has three children. Born in Ribeirão Preto, he served in the Chamber of Deputies of Brasilia (DF) before assuming the presidency of the City Council in 2017. This is the fifth time that he has run as head of the Executive Branch. Its declared equity is R $ 4,209,205.42.

The candidate’s government plan is divided into 11 areas, from social assistance to urban development, and mentions the consolidation of a “global, connected, safe, entrepreneurial and sustainable city.”
Nogueira wants to regulate the Master Plan, complete the works of Ribeirão Mobilidade and the administrative center, in addition to adopting underground wiring in the streets and a “digital blue zone” for parking lots. It promises more places in schools, with the inclusion of a second language, and talks about improving spaces such as Cava do Bosque and Morro do São Bento, in addition to programs such as “Bolsa Atleta”. More cooperatives of recyclers, ecopoints and reuse of water from wastewater treatment are also planned.

The candidate also wants to create a Specialized Medical Clinic and is analyzing promoting telemedicine care. Creating a security department and adopting zero tolerance for stolen materials are also promises.
Suely Vilela is 56 years old, divorced and a full professor at the University of São Paulo (USP). She was the first dean in the history of the university (2005-2009). He has a doctorate in biological sciences from the Ribeirão Preto Faculty of Medicine and has worked in national and international research in the areas of biochemistry and pharmacy. Its equity declared to the TSE is R $ 1,931,083.42.
His alternate is the businessman Mateus Eduardo (Pode), 38 years old.

The candidate’s government plan mentions a management model with four axes – functional sustainable, social sustainability, operative and participatory community structuring – and proposals focused mainly on development, health and education.
Suely Vilela wants to create a Ministry of Economic Development and map the potential of the municipality with an emphasis on technology and innovation, in addition to tourism. Suely also promises to prioritize sustainable products in school meals. In health, it wants to take advantage of the existing structure that still does not work, strengthen the Family Health Program and adopt a single information system. In this context, he also cites telemedicine consultations. In early childhood education, it plans attention to maternal health and expanding the offer of nurseries. It also plans to adopt hybrid education to make up for lost content due to the pandemic. He wants criteria for the approval of new subdivisions, specific laws for the protection of the Guaraní Aquifer and consortia for services such as water treatment. He also cites campaigns for the castration of animals.
