Since the beginning of the pandemic, health professionals have been fighting Covid-19 daily in hospitals in Espírito Santo. In some cases, these workers also end up infected with the coronavirus and become the patients themselves.
According to data from the State Department of Health (Sesa), 47 health professionals died from the disease until this Monday (7). The Regional Council of Medicine of Espírito Santo (CRM-ES) reports that 15 of these workers were doctors.
The most recent cases occurred on Sunday (6). On Domingos Martins, in the mountainous region of the state, the occupational doctor, gynecologist and obstetrician, Iran Guimarães de Azevedo, died of Covid-19.
In Nova Venécia, northwest of Espírito Santo, the victim was the gynecologist Reinaldo Barbosa Caixeta, 63, who was admitted to the Roberto Silvares hospital, in São Mateus, in the north.
