SÃO PAULO – With 147 million voters, an average of 435 per voting center, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has a health security plan to avoid the spread of Covid-19 during voting. The rules were developed with the advice of Fiocruz and the Syrian-Lebanese and Albert Einstein hospitals. The first round of elections is scheduled for November 15 and the second for November 29.

A voter poll in São Paulo and published last Saturday by the Datafolha Institute reveals that one in five voters say they cannot go out to vote for fear of contagion with the new coronavirus.
Analytical: The voter is still unaware of the campaign and other impacts of the pandemic.
Voters or election officials who have a fever on Election Day or who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days prior to the election date should stay home. In the case of voters, it is possible to justify the absence for that reason. In turn, pollsters must communicate their electoral zone to be replaced.
Elections: The campaign begins in SP with street events, crowds and a focus on city issues
Find out which TSE measures and recommendations are for voter safety:
1) From 7 to 10, the voting hours will be preferable for people over 60 years old. Other voters will not be barred from voting at this time, but, if possible, should be present beginning at 10 am. Voting will end at 5 pm
2) The polling place should be checked before leaving home, as some sections have been changed. The address of the voting station must be consulted by the e-Title application, in the option where to vote (Google Play or in the App Store), or in the TSE portal.
3) The use of a mask will be mandatory in the voting places. The voter must keep a distance of one meter from other people in the queues and avoid physical contact.
4) It will be prohibited to eat, drink or carry out any activity that requires the removal of the mask within the voting places.
5) Each voter must bring their own pen to sign the voting book.
6) Write down the names and numbers of the candidates so that you can vote as quickly as possible.
7) The voter must avoid taking children or companions to the polling place.
8) All polling stations will have alcohol gel for voters to use before and after voting.
9) Officials will use masks, face shield and alcohol gel for individual protection. Disposable masks should be changed every four hours and the face shield should be worn at all times.
10) The voter must stand one meter from the table and stretch his arms to present the document. If necessary, the pollster will ask the voter to take two steps back and quickly lower the mask.
11) The pollster will read the voter’s name aloud. If correct, the voter should wash their hands with alcohol gel and sign the voting book.
12) If the voter does not bring their own pen, it will be necessary to spray alcohol on the commonly used pen after each voter’s use.
13) When the ballot box is released, the voter will proceed to the voting booth and enter the numbers of their candidates. After voting, you must wash your hands with alcohol gel again and leave the section.
