Governor Romeo Low (Novo) announced on a social network, on the night of this Tuesday (09/03), that Minas Gerais is now in a position to begin vaccinating the elderly between 75 and 79 years of age. The claim was made after the state received an additional 303,600 doses of immunizers against the new coronavirus. Also according to the governor, Minas Gerais has already received 2,117,380 vaccines.

According to the state government, 57,151 doses go to the elderly between 75 and 79, who will receive vaccinations for the first time. Another 80,693 flights to complete the immunization of people between 80 and 84 years old. Another 6,695 flights for workers in the sade.

The cargo arrived at the Tancredo Neves International Airport, in Confins, Gran BH. Later, it was transported to the Rede Frio State Central, in Bairro Gameleira, West Region of the capital of Minas Gerais.

The vaccines were escorted by Police Federal. From Rede Frio, they go to the Regional Health Superintendencies, where the municipalities must receive the doses that concern them.

This is the seventh batch of vaccines to reach the state. With this, Minas Gerais received a total of 2,117,380 doses: 1,706,880 of CoronaVac and 410,500 to AstraZeneca.

So far, the state has vaccinated 700,179 people. Of these, 332,270 received the second dose, according to the Secretary of State for Sade (ITS).
