An accident involving a car and a passenger vehicle on the Castello Branco highway killed an elderly man, 74, on Saturday morning (31).
According to the police, the truck driver reported that he was heading towards São Paulo when he was shut down by another car and lost control. With that, he invaded the construction site and the opposite lane in sequence and collided head-on with another vehicle.
In the car that was driving in there were four occupants, the driver, an elderly man, who came to the rescue, but could not resist his injuries. A 54-year-old woman in the front seat was rescued with serious injuries, while the other two passengers had only minor injuries.
The accident led to the interdiction and only one lane of the highway was cleared, leading to congestion.
