OR Citizenship announced on Friday the 18th the dismissal of deputy Fernando Cury, accused of sexual harassment against the deputy Isa Penna (PSOL) during a session in Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp). According to a document signed by the national president of the party, Roberto Freire, Cury will stay away until the conclusion of the party-level disciplinary procedure.

“State Representative Fernando Cury is definitively removed from all the directive functions of the party, in all instances, as well as from all functions exercised on behalf of the Citizens, including with the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo”, says the document , who described the episode that involved the parliamentarian as “serious.”

The video at the time of the harassment was broadcast live on Alesp’s YouTube channel. In it, the parliamentarian appears speaking with the president of the Chamber, Cauê Macris (PSDB), when Cury approaches the Board of Directors and stands behind the deputy, placing his hand on the side of her breasts. Then Isa pushes the deputy away from his body.

This Friday, the deputy announced the launch of a manifesto with a petition calling for the impeachment of Cury. According to an official note, the initiative was necessary because the Assembly’s Ethics Committee, made up of a woman and five men, would rule on the case only for next March. “The silence of the governor, João Doria, and the president of Alesp, Cauê Macris, indicate that the plan is to push the case under the rug,” Isa said on social media.

The electronic reporting of incidents and the representation in the Alesp Ethics Council took place on Thursday 17, but the face-to-face report, which would take place on Friday, ended up being postponed under the guidance of the legislator’s legal team.
