Captain Nelson (Avante) was elected mayor of São Gonçalo, Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, this Sunday (29).

With 100% of the votes counted, Captain Nelson obtained 50.79% of the votes, equivalent to 189,719 votes. The candidate defeated Dimas Gadelha of the PT, who obtained 49.21% (183,811 votes).
In the first round of the election in São Gonçalo, Dimas Gadelha obtained 117,346 votes (31.36% of the votes) and Captain Nelson 85,399 (22.82% of the votes) and both went on to the second round.
Captain Nelson is 62 years old, married and finished high school. He is a councilor and has declared assets of R $ 547,524.56. The vice is Sergio Gevu (PL).

In the health area, Captain Nelson’s government plan provides for the computerization of the municipal network to streamline the scheduling of consultations, exams and surgeries. Still in health, the document says that Captain Nelson intends to set up a 24-hour municipal emergency unit to serve regions that, according to the campaign, “today are not covered by an emergency unit.”

In the field of public security, he talks about improving the lighting of São Gonçalo and creating a Municipal Command and Control Center. Captain Nelson also proposes rescuing public spaces with the construction of gyms and outdoor plazas.
In urban and environmental planning, Captain Nelson says that the use of clean vehicles will be encouraged and the execution of sanitation projects will also be prioritized. In economics, Captain Nelson proposes to promote entrepreneurship and the solidarity economy.
