According to the director of the Butantan Institute, Dimas Covas, the contract for the supply of 54 million doses of CoronaVac to the Ministry of Health has not yet been signed because the Ministry of Health has modified the agreement.
In an interview with GloboNews, Dimas Covas said that Butantan and the Ministry of Health had reached an agreement on the contract last Wednesday (10), and that the document was sent to the portfolio, but was returned to the institute with clauses that had no has been discussed previously.
“Today a modified version of the contract arrived and that is why we reached the ministry that we will not sign,” he said. “The fact that you introduce additional clauses in a contract that has already been negotiated causes a certain type. Either we are negotiating seriously, or we are not negotiating seriously,” added Dimas Covas, without detailing what the clauses would be.
The director said he fears this mess will delay more vaccinations in the country. However, he affirmed that Butantan will continue working. Butantan continues to work day and night and we intend not to stop until we fulfill the first contract of 46 million doses and, I hope, continue until these other 54 million doses.
THE Twitter contacted the Ministry of Health, but has not yet received a portfolio position.
