Manaus – Wilson Périco, president of the Amazon Industries Center (CIEAM), challenged during a meeting with Governor Wilson Lima, held this Saturday night (26), the measures adopted by the Government of Amazonas to combat Covid-19 in the state. The businessman took as a basis the data released by the Fundación de Vigilancia Sanitaria Amazonas (FVS) and the number of beds available in hospitals in the capital.
According to the businessman, who asked to speak on behalf of the company, the FVS data does not coincide with what Wilson Lima gave the entrepreneurs. “The number of deaths from Covid in our state will not exceed seven per day, like the figures that just passed, 800 in 90 days,” said Wilson Perico.
Another issue raised during the meeting was the lack of information on the number of beds available in the public health system. “How many beds do we have available in our system? It is a fact that no one has in sight. We do not know how many beds are available in the ICU or in a clinic bed. These numbers vary depending on the wind. We went through the peak of the pandemic and the graphs showed it with the peaks of death, the chaos in the public system, the construction of field hospitals. These hospitals were dismantled and now you have a problem, ”he said.
Even with a possible second wave, there was no government action. And, at the time when there is a family and social upheaval, in addition to the main date for trade, Wilson Perico asked that the Government not harm society.
“The population stopped giving importance to this protocol at the time of the election, where no one came to speak so that people would take care of going to vote. No one came to express concern about the pandemic. I tell you that this measure that you have published will not benefit our society or the health system. What brings benefits to the health system are strong actions to correct it. In nine months nothing was done ”. ventilated.
The businessman ends the speech by saying that the decree is an evil with society and that there is no collapse for the measures taken. “Now that we are seeing this new peak that is being affirmed here, it is not a trade problem and also the health system is not collapsing as said. Our FVS shows that we are at the same pace as the last five years. Now that the health system is flawed, it is. Now, not because of Covid ”, concluded Périco.
