The bus driver involved in the accident that killed 41 people on Wednesday (25) in Taguaí, in the interior of São Paulo, suffered threats, but is now in a safe place, according to delegate Camila Rosa Alves, responsible for the investigation.
“He gave testimony today, he is in contact with us and in a safe place. [As ameaças de morte] I was [a informação] what happened to me, “he told Twitter, by phone.
The accident occurred on the Alfredo de Oliveira Carvalho highway, between Taguaí and Taquarituba, in the Avaré region. It is a section with many curves and a continuous strip.
The collision occurred between a bus carrying employees of a jeans factory and a cart carrying manure. Star Turismo, the company responsible for the group, operated illegally for more than a year, according to the São Paulo State Transportation Agency (Artesp).
The São Paulo Civil Police awaits technical reports to clarify what happened in the accident, but says that it is also investigating contradictory versions presented by the bus driver, by a truck driver who would have been overtaken by the bus and by the surviving passenger of the truck involved in the accident.
According to the police, the version presented by the bus driver is that the vehicle’s brake has failed and he had to change direction to try to avoid something worse. The versions of the truck driver who would have been overtaken by the bus and the surviving passenger of the truck are similar: they point out that the bus tried to pass in a prohibited zone.
