According to CDL-BH, the reopening of stores is not responsible for the increase in pollution by the new coronavirus in the city. The indicators that guide the disease scenario in the capital have also risen. Beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), for example, surpassed the 80% mark on Monday (28).
“Since the reopening process, which began gradually at the beginning of August, the commerce, in its great and great majority, has adopted all the necessary health protocols for adequate health care for workers, consumers and the general population. . Use of a mask, availability of alcohol gel, service without crowds of people, what we have seen in establishments that have reopened their doors, ”says the note from the Chamber of Merchants.
The sector fears that a further decrease in flexibility will have a negative impact on Belo Horizonte’s economy. “Commerce is responsible for 72% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of our capital and generates more than a million jobs”, argue the businessmen.
A survey conducted by CDL-BH shows that 68.2% of commercial establishments had less income at Christmas this year than in the same period of 2019. “A new closure now will undoubtedly interrupt the recovery process of thousands of establishments, that, at the cost of work, creativity and innovation, they are managing to stay on their feet ”, defends the group.
Mayor made alert
On the 18th, Kalil had already warned about the risks of spreading the COVID-19 this end of the year. The mayor said that “a health plan card does not mean a vaccine,” calling attention to the occupation of beds in the mining capital.
“I want to tell the people in the double cab truck that the health cards are not vaccinated. I advise anyone who thinks that the health plan card is vaccinated, to consult the private hospitals they attend to see the situation of these private hospitals, which are strangled, closing doors to patients.
In total, Belo Horizonte has already registered 61,825 confirmed cases and 1,839 deaths from COVID-19. According to the Municipal Executive, there are still 102 deaths under investigation.
