Bahia registered, in the last hours, 12 new confirmed cases of coronavirus. According to the bulletin published by the Ministry of Health (Sesab) earlier this Sunday (10), the state adds a total of 5,558 people infected with the disease, with 202 deaths, six more than the figures presented last Saturday (9) )
According to Sesab’s information, death number 199 was that of a 36-year-old man, resident in Porto Seguro, with no history of pre-existing diseases. The patient was admitted to a public hospital in the municipality where he lived and died on Saturday (9).
The 200th death was a 50-year-old woman residing in São Sebastião do Passé, who also had no history of illness. The patient was admitted to a public hospital in the municipality of residence and died on May 7.
Also according to Sesab, death number 201 was from a 47-year-old man, resident in Itabuna, with a history of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The patient was admitted to a public hospital in the municipality of residence and died on May 5.
The 202nd death was of a 50-year-old man, resident in Uruçuca, with no history of pre-existing diseases. The patient was seen in an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) for Covid-19 in the municipality of Ilhéus on May 7 and died the same day.
When comparing the bulletins published by Sesab at 5 pm on Saturday (9) and this Sunday (10), it is possible to notice that there were six deaths and 384 confirmed cases in the state in the last 24 hours. Around 12:00, the agency released the first two recorded deaths on Sunday and 372 cases.
Of the total number of deaths, 128 occurred in Salvador. The other 69 were in Adustina (1); Cold water (1); Araci (1); Belmonte (1); Buerarema (3); Camaçari (3); Capim Grosso (3); Catu (1); Coaraci (1); Feira de Santana (2); Gandu (1); Gongogi (2); Ibirataia (1); Ilhéus (11); Ipiaú (2); Itabuna (7); Itagibá (1); Itapé (1); Itapetinga (2); Sheikh (2); Jitaúna (1); Juazeiro (1); Lauro de Freitas (5); Maraú (1); Nilo Peçanha (1); Paramirim (1); Porto Seguro (1); Ribeira do Pombal (1); São Francisco do Conde (1); São Sebastião do Passé (1); Ubaitaba (1); Uruçuca (5); Utinga (1); Vera Cruz (1); Vereda (1) and Vitória da Conquista (4). These numbers represent all records from January through 5 pm on Sunday.
According to Sesab, in Bahia, of the 888 beds available from Covid-19’s exclusive Unified Health System (SUS), 444 have hospitalized patients, representing an occupancy rate of 50%. Regarding adult and pediatric ICU beds, of the 422 exclusive coronavirus beds, 229 have hospitalized patients, representing an occupancy rate of 54.3%. It should be noted that the new beds will gradually open as demand increases.
The confirmed cases are distributed in 171 municipalities in the state, with a higher proportion in Salvador (66.05%). The municipalities with the highest incidence rates per 1,000,000 inhabitants are Ipiaú (2,441.52), Uruçuca (2,095.62), Ilhéus (1,792.68), Itabuna (1,538.30) and Salvador (1,277.70).
According to Sesab, in the period from March 27 to May 9, there was an increase in the number of laboratory-confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Bahia, with an increase of 4,418.70 cases in the period.

Also according to the Sesab bulletin, seven confirmed cases that had been previously reported in the cities of Amargosa (1), Bom Jesus da Lapa (1), Guanambi (1), Cristópolis (1), Saubara (1), Ponto Novo ( 1)) and Saúde (1) had the city of Salvador as a probable site of infection.
One case was registered in Vereda and has a record of the probable site of infection in the city of Ilhéus and another was recorded in Cruz das Almas with a probable place of infection in Rio de Janeiro. On Tuesday (5), Sesab reported that a case was registered in Guaratinga as probable registration in Ipiaú.
On April 23, the city of Cruz das Almas appeared with a case reported as a record of the likely site of infection in the city of Salvador. Later, Sesab confirmed that the case is from Rio de Janeiro.
The same occurs with 22 cases of residents of other states that were notified in cities in Bahia. Until the ninth case, Sesab confirmed that two were notified in Salvador, five in Feira de Santana and two in Lauro de Freitas. As of the tenth case, the agency no longer detailed the places where the patients were registered.
According to the health agency, a confirmed case that had been previously notified in the city of Irecê is being investigated to discover the possible site of infection. This case continues without the confirmed information.
Last Friday (8), Sesab reported that after an epidemiological investigation, it was verified that a case like Serrolândia had been confirmed, but that he is a resident of Valente.
Of the 5,558 confirmed cases, 1,391 have already been recovered and 3,965 cases are active. Sesab also reported that Lacen carried out, in the period from March 1 at 3 pm this Sunday, a total of 26,059 respiratory virus exams, the results of which have already been published. There are currently 3,407 exams under review.
According to Sesab, the most affected age group was 30 to 39 years, which represents 25.39% of the total. Regarding the sex of the confirmed cases, the agency reported that 57.06% are women.
This Tuesday, Sesab reported that the incidence rate per 1,000,000 inhabitants was higher in the age group over 80 years old (704.41 / 1,000,000 inhabitants), indicating that the risk of getting sick was higher in this age group. , followed by 30 to 39 years (615.05 / 1,000,000 inhabitants).
