The year of the pandemic is nearing the end with 248,000 infected by covid-19 in the Federal District. Of this total, 4,201 died from the disease and 96% (238,553 people) managed to recover. Last night, the Department of Health (SES-DF) registered three more deaths and 615 contaminations. Estimates indicate the existence of at least 5,789 people in the recovery phase. Those who did not resist the complications of the disease correspond to 1.7% of the total.

Although the elderly are part of the group at risk of developing a serious condition of covid-19, 948 people under the age of 60 died in the federal capital from the infection. Among the three victims confirmed yesterday, one patient was in the age group of 40 to 49 years. The other two were in their 70s. One lived in Brazlândia; another, in Gama; and the third, in Samambaia.

In the comparison by sex, men correspond to the minority (45.8%) of those infected, but they are the ones who die the most (57.9%). The alert applies to people with heart disease, who number 2,667 among those who lost their lives. In relation to the administrative regions with the highest rates, Ceilândia leads with the most cases and deaths. The city accumulates 28,789 notifications and 753 victims. The incidence of deaths is also the highest in Mexico City: 2.6%.

In the Federal District, the transmissibility rate of the new coronavirus is 0.79, according to yesterday’s SES-DF bulletin. The data reveal that a group of 100 individuals carrying the microorganism is capable of transmitting the disease to, on average, 79 other people. When the transmission rate is below 1, the tendency is for the contagion to decrease. On December 3, the indicator was 1.3.

Surveys related to the pandemic show a direct relationship between the increase in cases and the decrease in the number of people who respect social distance. The latest National Survey by Household Sample (PNAD) Covid-19, published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) on Wednesday, showed that the percentage of strictly isolated DF residents fell 13.08% in October. , at 8.71%, in November.

Among people aged 60 and over, there was also a drop. While 34.4% of them were strictly isolated in July, only 14.5% were in the same condition last month. Pnad Covid-19 also revealed that 736,000 Brazilians – 24% of the population – have some comorbidity and that more than half of this group (63.1%) are elderly. The most common problems were hypertension, diabetes, lung and heart disease, as well as depression and cancer.
