The minimum wage necessary to support a family of four should have been R $ 4,673.06 in April. The value is 4.47 times the minimum wage in force last month, of R $ 1,045, the value of the minimum was readjusted as of February.
The estimate is from Dieese (Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies) and was published today.
In March, the necessary salary corresponded to 4.29 times the current floor, that is, R $ 4,483.20.
Monthly, Dieese publishes an estimate of how much the minimum wage should be to satisfy the basic needs of the worker and his family, as established in the Constitution: housing, food, education, health, leisure, clothing, hygiene, transportation and Social Security.
This value was calculated based on the most expensive basic basket among 17 surveyed capitals. Last month, the highest value of the basic basket was registered in São Paulo (R $ 556.25). The lowest average value was observed in Aracaju (R $ 401.37).
Dieese suspends face-to-face data collection
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dieese suspended on-site data collection for the basic basket investigation from March 18.
To avoid a data blackout, the entity decided to collect prices by phone, email, Internet inquiries and delivery requests in 16 of the 17 capitals surveyed. In São Paulo, the collection was kept face to face, but with a smaller number of researchers and at times when the establishments were empty.
Open markets, which are also part of the regular survey, were excluded from the price survey.
