Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) has issued an alert for health professionals responsible for the application of CoronaVac, where the amount of 0.5 ml per person should be aspirated from the multidose bottle.

The first six million doses approved by the agency on January 17 came directly from the Sinovac laboratory in China, in single-dose bottles of 0.5 ml each. On January 22, the new approved shipment of 4.1 million doses of CoronaVac was filled by the Butantan Institute, in a bottle with 10 doses, which have already begun to be distributed.

Wanted for Twitter, Butantan explains “that each vial has nominally 10 doses, but that, following good manufacturing practices, a larger volume is filled than, if the professionals of the health units carefully remove it from the vials, it can throw up to two more dose. Each vial of the vaccine is 6.2 ml. This can help immunize a greater number of people for each open vial. “

The post-shedding vaccine should be given within eight hours, provided the vial is stored in aseptic conditions and refrigerated between 2ºC me 8ºC.

No more supplies for the CoronaVac from China

The director of the Butantan Institute, Dimas Covas, estimated yesterday, during a press conference, the arrival of 5,400 liters of imported supplies from China on February 3 for the production of 8.6 million doses of CoronaVac. The production period is 20 days.

We had a sign that the batch will launch quickly, starting with those 5,400 liters that were announced yesterday and will arrive next week on February 3. Then another volume of 5,600 liters, which was also mentioned by the ambassador and is in an advanced release process.

Production had stopped since January 17 due to a lack of inputs that were stopped in China. Chinese Ambassador Yan Wanming said the delay in the export was technical and not political due to recent friction by the government of President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) with the Asian country.

However, Butantan has not confirmed the date to resume activities, however there is a risk of missing doses for the PNI (National Immunization Plan). “When the raw material of 5,400 liters arrives on the next day 3, we will start production. [As doses] It will go on the market 20 days later, thus fulfilling the quality cycle ”, explained Dimas Covas.
