Chosen to assume the coordination of Operation Lava Jato in Curitiba, Attorney General Alessandro Oliveira said that he intends to maintain a “strictly professional” relationship with Attorney General Augusto Aras.

In an interview with RPC, Oliveira avoided commenting on the friction of the working group with Aras and said that he did not know the reasons and the context that led the Attorney General to say that it would be necessary to “correct the directions” so that “the lava jets do not last.”

Alessandro Oliveira will assume the position of Procurator of the Republic Deltan Dallagnol. The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) confirmed the exchange on Tuesday (1st).

Like Deltán, Oliveira said there was no external pressure or from the Attorney General’s Office to change the coordination of Lava Jato in Paraná.

As part of the task force working group since 2018, Oliveira said he believes that a request for a route correction in Operation Lava Jato will not arrive due to the independence of the Federal Public Ministry.

The prosecutor also said that the criticisms and opinions about the Car Wash Operation are part of a natural reaction process, which sometimes tries to look for errors or internal contradictions.

“Our idea is a technical action, trying to check if there are corrections to be made. That they are made through the internal process of self-reflection. Apart from that, criticism debate that I consider even criticism for mere possibly political grounds or mere reaction.” Scary, depending on the origin of this type of insinuation or wear, I think this further reinforces that Lava Jato is on the right track that points to a path to be corrected ”.

Alessandro Oliveira said he wants to continue with the work “that is working” and that it is impossible to predict the end of Lava Jato.

“Its completion is something definitely impossible to predict. But it seems to me that there is still great potential, a reprieve for another 70 times 700 phases in Operation Lava Jato. There is no lack of desire for that.”

Regarding the new position, Oliveira said it must be the most relevant and noisy job of his own career.

“The complexity potential of the operation is unquestionable, I have already worked in dozens of other operations, most of them fighting corruption. But anyway, the size of Lava Jato is global, and potentially I think it is the biggest challenge of my career”. , said.

Alessandro José Fernandes de Oliveira has been in the Operation Lava Jato Working Group since 2018. The new coordinator of the working group became a prosecutor in 2004, working in Paraná since 2012.

Oliveira graduated in Public Security from the Military Police Academy of the State of Paraná, in 1993, and in Law from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), in 2002. He also completed a master’s degree in Social Relations from UFPR.

Within the MPF, the prosecutor has already held the positions of counselor in the Paraná Penitentiary Council, coordinator of the Public Management Control Network and Regional Electoral Attorney of the state.

In addition, Oliveira is also a member of the working groups on Royal Precautionary Measures, in the 2nd and 5th Chambers of Criminal Coordination and Review and Combating Corruption, according to the MPF.

The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) said on Tuesday that the coordinator of Operation Lava Jato in Curitiba, the Prosecutor of the Republic Deltan Dallagnol, will leave the working group.

Deltan Dallagnol said in a video posted online that his daughter, aged 1, 10 months, was showing signs of developmental regression. For this reason, the prosecutor stated that he needs to dedicate more time to it.

“After years of intense dedication to Lava Jato, I believe that now is the time to dedicate myself in a special way to my family,” Deltan said.

Deltan Dallagnol signed several complaints of Operation Lava Jato against businessmen and politicians. Among them are the complaints against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Under Dallagnol’s leadership, the task force indicted 543 people on 217 criminal charges, according to the MPF. In all, 166 people were convicted by the courts in the cases.

Dallagnol said that despite leaving the task force, he continues to work as a prosecutor at the MPF.

“I will continue to work as a prosecutor, but those extra hours that I invested in nights, weekends and holidays, now I will have to focus on my family,” he said.

Deltan Dallagnol has two disciplinary proceedings open against him in the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP) and they are suspended.

On Monday (31), the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation (AGU) argued before the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that there is a risk of prescription of a disciplinary process opened in the CNMP against Deltan Dallagnol.

A process expires when the term provided by law expires during which there may be a penalty.

  • The Council opens a disciplinary procedure to determine if Dallagnol committed a crime for criticizing Renan
  • Celso de Mello suspends actions against Deltan Dallagnol in the Council of the Public Ministry

According to the AGU, the process that discusses whether Deltan Dallagnol committed a disciplinary infraction for allegedly trying to interfere in the presidential race for the Senate, with charges against Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL), is due to expire on September 10.

Minister Celso de Mello had suspended the process, because he understood that there were problems with the process in the council and stressed that the deputies have freedom of expression.

The other process, also suspended by Mello, is a request for removal filed by Senator Kátia Abreu (PP-TO).

In this process, the senator affirmed that Deltan Dallagnol was already the target of 16 disciplinary complaints in the board of directors, gave paid lectures and signed an agreement with Petrobras so that R $ 2.5 billion recovered would be destined to a Lava Jato foundation.
