Commentator Walter Casagrande, from Grupo Globo, harshly criticized the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF), for organizing matches of the Paulista Championship in Volta Redonda, in Rio de Janeiro, and the CBF. He defined the position of both as “shameful” and also cited the behavior of President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) in relation to the new Coronavirus pandemic.

– For me the situation of the São Paulo Federation and the CBF is a shameful situation. Football has to understand that it is not just the four lines that say they are safe. In the vicinity of football, no one is safe. The federation and CBF only see this because their concern is money, it is economic. (…) It is not a question of whether it pollutes or not, it is a question of solidarity, of a single country. We are in a delicate and chaotic situation throughout the country. You have nowhere to run. You can’t play football – said Casão tonight on the program “Bem, Amigos!” From SporTV.

– When the main address of a building, a neighborhood and, mainly, a country, such as President Jair Bolsonaro, when such an address is totally destructive for the country, it is an address of terror, of death. The path that President Jair Bolsonaro took is a path of death, not for him, but for the population. He never turned back to the path of life. Stay on the same path, which is that of death. When the leadership behaves this way, a large part of the people behave this way too, then there will be conflict between those who think about health, about the good … It becomes difficult. Each one pulls aside – criticized.

The FPF had announced on Monday that it would respect the São Paulo government’s decision to suspend sporting activities until the 30th. However, later, Corinthians was informed about the possibility of playing in the Volta Redonda.
