The most severe restrictions will be valid for 15 days and will apply in the Northwest and Northern Triangle regions.

The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), confirmed the creation of the purple wave in the Conscious Mines program, more restrictive than the others and equivalent to a confinement, at a press conference this Wednesday (3). The measure will reach the Northwest and Northern Triangle regions, including the cities of Uberlândia and Patos de Minas.. It will be mandatory even for cities that have not joined the program.

According to the CEO, the most severe restrictions will be valid for 15 days. “I hope that is enough, but we will be reviewing when necessary“, saying.

The change comes just over a month after the state government relaxed the rules of the Conscient Mines program, allowing more activities to run in the cities that joined the project even in the program’s red wave, hitherto the most restrictive.

The decision is in line with an open letter released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), this Monday (1), in which it asks the States to adopt restrictive measures against the pandemic and suggested closures in cities from 20 to 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. According to a survey by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), 18 states and the Federal District have ICU beds for Covid-19 above 80%, which means a simultaneous worsening of the pandemic throughout the country, in the assessment of the entity.

Currently, the occupancy of ICU beds in Minas is 74% and that of nursing, 68.5%. In some cities of Minas Gerais, the health system is close to collapse, such as in Montes Claros, in the north, where the SUS clinical beds reach an occupancy of 97%.

Still on Wednesday (3), the Belo Horizonte pandemic coping committee, which did not adhere to Minas Consciente, meets to discuss possible changes in the operation of activities in the capital, which has registered an increase in epidemiological indices this week.
