Congresswoman Flordelis (PSD) was admitted to the Niterói D’Or Hospital, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday afternoon (23).
According to Flordelis’s lawyer, Anderson Rollemberg, the deputy uses controlled medications and this Tuesday he had a pressure drop.
The lawyer also said that Flordelis was taken to the hospital by friends. There is no information about his health status yet.
The Second Criminal Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro unanimously removed Flordelis dos Santos de Souza (PSD) from her mandate as federal deputy.

The Council of Ethics of the Chamber of Deputies also instituted this Tuesday (23) the disciplinary process that can lead to the impeachment of Mrs. Flordelis (PSD-RJ).
TJ’s trial on Tuesday looked at whether she could continue in her post pending the trial of the lawsuit in which she is accused of ordering the death of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo, in June 2019.
Chamber of Deputies analyzes decision
The decision of the TJ-RJ is valid for one year or until the end of the criminal investigation of the Anderson do Carmo case and, as in the case of Deputy Daniel Silveira, it must be sent within 24 hours to the Chamber of Deputies so that whether or not the full decision to maintain or not the separation determined by the judges, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, is maintained.
In addition to the decision of the Chamber, there is still an appeal before the TJ-RJ.
Process in the Ethics Council
After starting the process in the Ethics Council, a triple list was drawn up among the members of the collegiate to define a rapporteur for the case. The following were drawn:
- Alexandre Leite (DEM-SP)
- Fábio Schiochet (PSL-SC)
- Gilson Marques (Novo-SC)
Now it is up to the president of the Ethics Council, Juscelino Filho (DEM-MA), to choose a name from this list to be the rapporteur.
Last September, Judge Nearis Arce dos Santos, of the 3rd Criminal Court of Niterói, preferred not to dismiss Flordelis because, according to her, the crimes are not directly related to the parliamentary function.
So the prosecutors appealed. But since then, Flordelis has to comply with other restrictive measures:
- Use electronic ankle brace.
- It is required to stay in the family home in Pendotiba or in the functional department in Brasilia, between 11 pm and 6 am.
Pastor Anderson do Carmo was executed in the early morning of June 16, 2019 in the garage of his home.

5 points to understand the Flordelis case
Deputy Flordelis’s husband was killed on June 16, 2019 in Niterói. The police designated her as the mastermind of crime.
The investigations showed that he controlled the entire economic part and also the political, religious and artistic career of the deputy, which caused riots in many members of the family.
Flordelis was not only arrested because she has parliamentary immunity. The other 10 defendants are in jail, including seven children and a granddaughter of the deputy.
