The Secretary of Health of Pires do Rio (GO), Assis Silva Filho, asked for his resignation yesterday. He was on leave for 60 days after reporting that he had violated the Covid-19 vaccination line and immunized his wife.
In the resignation request, accepted by Mayor Cida Tomazini (Pode), the secretary said that his decision was “personal” and “irrevocable” and “irreversible”.
Last week, Assis Silva posted a video on his social media apologizing for vaccinating his wife. The secretary, who is also a pastor of the Vitória em Cristo church, admitted the mistake when compared to the mistakes made by “great figures of the Bible” and asked God for forgiveness for his act.
“Today, in a special way, I come to account for my actions. First of all, I want to apologize to God, apologize to the church, apologize to those who trusted the project and put it in my hand. I want to apologize to the entire population of Pires do Rio, ”said the secretary in a concert with the woman, who is also a pastor.
According to Assis Silva -who did not speak if he himself had the vaccine-, his attitude was aimed at protecting who he called “the woman of my life.”
“It was to safeguard and preserve the health and life of the woman in my life. I can give my own life for her,” she said at the time.
