CBF regrets accident and announces postponement of the match for the Green Cup

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) regretted this Sunday the plane crash of a plane that transferred part of the Palmas Futebol Clube team to Goiânia shortly after takeoff, in Porto Nacional, Tocantins, leaving the six occupants dead. In addition to the pilot, Commander Wagner, the aircraft was carrying the club’s president, Lucas Meira, and the players Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noé, Ranule and Marcus Molinari.

“Deeply shocked, CBF stands in solidarity with the families of the victims of the plane crash, which claimed the lives of the president of Palmas Futebol e Regatas, Lucas Meira, the club players Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noé, Marcus Molinari and Ranule, and the pilot, Commander Wagner, this Sunday morning (24). Our sentiment also goes to all the members of the club and to the fans of Palmas ”, stated the CBF in a note published on its official website.

“CBF decreed that a minute of silence be respected in today’s matches (Sunday) in Brazilian soccer. The flags of the entity’s headquarters were raised at half-mast as a sign of mourning, ”continued CBF, which announced the postponement of the Palmas match against Vila Nova, in Goiânia, this Monday, for the second round of the Green Cup.

“The Palmas match against Vila Nova, valid for the Green Cup, which would be played on Monday (25), has been suspended and will be rescheduled for a later date,” the entity completed.

Images recorded in the Luzimangues district of Porto Nacional, where the accident occurred, show that the aircraft was completely destroyed. There is no information yet on the cause of the accident. The Brazilian clubs showed solidarity with the Tocantins team.
