RJ: Accident between speedboats in Angra dos Reis leaves four victims

Four people died after an accident involving two speedboats in Angra dos Reis, in Rio de Janeiro. Four others were injured and one had to be hospitalized. The information was released by UOL.

Three of the dead were said to be from the same family and only wandering around the region. The victims were identified as Luiza Pinheiro, 11, Tatiana Godim Pinheiro, 43, and Maria Candida Pinheiro, 57. The fourth victim was identified as Vânia Maria Edde, 63, a friend of the family.

UOL also reports that the Port Authority continues to contact the victims’ families and take statements about the incident. The boats would have collided in the region of the island of Paquetá.

The records made with cell phones and published on social networks show one of the boats adrift, with the rear part destroyed. Witnesses at the scene reported that one of the boats had an oil leak and a loud explosion was heard shortly before the collision.
