Changes to the SP Plan

Along with the reclassification, the government also announced changes in the plan’s criteria to classify the regions and also changes in the restrictive measures for each phase.

Among the main ones, is the permission for the business to operate for eight hours a day in the orange phase and ten hours in the yellow phase. In yellow, the operation of bars and restaurants will be allowed only until 8 pm, while in orange, the sector can only function in the delivery system and with on-site pick-up. All trading must close until 8 pm in the orange phase.

Regarding the occupancy of ICU beds, for a region to be included in the orange phase, this index went from 75% to 70%, showing a tightening of the plan.

It will also be more difficult to enter the green phase, considering the rate of hospitalizations and deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. Daily admissions in this measure increased from 40 to 30, while deaths went from five to just three per day. This always considering the data of the last 14 days.

The government of São Paulo also introduced changes in the plan’s criteria on the incidence indicators of the pandemic to better control the evolution of the pandemic in the state, such as stricter monitoring of the variation in cases, deaths and hospitalizations.

According to Patrícia Ellen, Secretary of Economic Development, the main indicator now of the SP Plan will be the number of hospitalizations per 100 thousand inhabitants.
