After three days in Phase 1-Red of the São Paulo Plan, where only services considered essential could be opened, most of the state of São Paulo returns, as of today (4), to Phase 3-Yellow. The exception is for the Presidente Prudente region, which will remain in Phase 1-Red.

The measure is valid, at least, until January 7, when the state government must announce a new classification of the São Paulo Plan. The government has already announced that no region of the state will evolve to Phase 4-Green in January.

Restrictions

Due to the large increase in the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths caused by the new coronavirus in December, the São Paulo government determined that the 645 municipalities of the state return to the Red Phase, the most restrictive, between December 25 and 27 and between January 1 and 3. But not all the municipalities of the state respected the determination, allowing the opening of businesses and services considered not essential. Furthermore, part of the state’s population did not respect the rule either and promoted or participated in agglomerations on beaches and even clandestine parties in the period.

In Phase 1-Red of the São Paulo Plan, only services considered essential in the areas of supply, security, transportation and health can operate, such as markets, pharmacies, gas stations, bakeries and laundries. The Yellow Phase allows the reopening of Malls, bars, street shops, gyms, restaurants, concessionaires, offices, cultural events and beauty salons, but with a limit of 40% of their capacity and with restricted hours.

The São Paulo Plan is divided into five phases, ranging from the maximum level of restriction of non-essential activities (red) to the stages identified as control (orange), relaxation (yellow), partial opening (green) and controlled normal (blue). ). The plan divides the state into regions and each one is classified into a phase, depending on factors such as the capacity of the health system and the evolution of the epidemic.
