The Public Ministry of Rio asked the Justice to break the confidentiality of three cell phones, a tablet and a computer seized in the mayor’s apartment far from the state capital, Marcelo crivella (Republicans-RJ), after the operation that led to his arrest last week.

In the request, prosecutors from the Criminal Origin Assignment Group of the Attorney General’s Office (Gaocrim) argue that there are indications that Crivella has received inside information and has tried to obstruct the investigations of the ‘bribery headquarters’.

The suspicions involve the second stage of Operation Hades, in September, when the address of the mayor’s home was searched. At that time, Crivella gave the investigators a disconnected cell phone, which, according to the MP after analyzing the content stored in the device, was not his.

“He deliberately handed over a device used by third parties as if it were his own, with the unmistakable intention of disturbing and hindering the proper development of the investigation,” says the MP.

Investigators also questioned the disposition with which Crivella’s attorneys arrived at the apartment to accompany the records on September 10.

“To everyone’s surprise, in just 5 or 10 minutes two lawyers arrived, which indicates that both were already ‘on duty’ in the vicinity of their client’s house and ready to attend to him, a very unusual circumstance, given the time they activated, ”prosecutors wrote.

Prosecutors add that images from the building’s security cameras and information provided by the condominium doorman confirm that the mayor arrived home minutes before the police teams.

Crivella was detained preventively in a joint operation of the Civil Police and the Public Ministry of Rio on the 22nd under suspicion of operating the alleged ‘Bribery Headquarters’ that would have been installed in the City of Rio. After being sent to the Benfica Prison, he was benefited by a court order issued by the president of the Superior Court of Justice, Minister Humberto Martins, and placed under house arrest with an anklet. On Wednesday 30, after receiving judicial authorization, he left the apartment to attend the funeral and burial of his mother in the interior of Minas Gerais, but returned the same day to comply with the precautionary measure.

The investigation involving the dismissed mayor of Rio indicates that at least R $ 53 million would have been raised by the alleged scheme through shell companies in the name of oranges. Crivella denies the charges and claims to be a victim of political persecution.
